From celebrity tributes to breathtaking hair productions, the 2026 Beauty Icon Awards offered Atlanta an unforgettable celebration of artistry, entrepreneurship and legacy.

ATLANTA — There are awards shows, and then there are experiences that remind you just how much influence Black creativity has on the world. The 2026 Bronner Bros. Beauty Icon Awards certainly made a case for the latter.

Held October 10 at the Riverside EpiCenter, the second annual celebration brought together a remarkable mix of beauty pioneers, entrepreneurs, entertainers and cultural tastemakers. And while the honorees were undoubtedly the stars of the evening, the atmosphere itself was something worth talking about.

From the fashionable arrivals on the red carpet to the thoughtfully produced presentations inside the theater, it was clear that this wasn’t going to be your typical awards ceremony.

A Room Full of Influence

One of the most impressive aspects of the evening was the diversity of talent and accomplishment represented in the room.

Beauty entrepreneurs Lisa Price, Olamide Olowe and Cornell McBride Sr. were recognized alongside creative powerhouses Derek Blanks, Derrick Rutledge and Xia Charles. Additional honors celebrated Sydney Carter, Germaine Bolds-Leftridge and Spelman College’s Cosmetic Science Program.

The honoree class was a reminder that the beauty industry is about much more than what consumers see on store shelves. It’s about the people creating products, building businesses, setting trends and opening doors for others.

The evening also brought plenty of familiar faces, including Anthony Hamilton, Da Brat, Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart, Taylor Polidore Williams, Jasmine Burke, Janell Stephens, Karlie Redd and other notable personalities.

One particularly meaningful moment came during the recognition of celebrity makeup artist Derrick Rutledge. Video tributes from Oprah Winfrey, Vanessa Williams, CeCe Winans, Yolanda Adams, Vivica A. Fox and Chanté Moore offered a personal glimpse into the impact his artistry has had throughout his career.

It was the kind of recognition that reminded everyone why celebrating the people behind the scenes matters.

The Hair Productions Were a Show of Their Own

If there was one element that truly separated the Beauty Icon Awards from a conventional ceremony, it was the creative production.

Celebrity hairstylist and creative director Terrence Davidson brought extraordinary imagination to the stage through 90’s Fine: Salon Life and The Enchanted Garden.

Between the elaborate hairstyles, striking fashion, choreography and larger-than-life visuals, the productions were a celebration of hair as art.

The evening’s Midnight Bloom theme carried throughout the experience, giving the program a sophisticated, theatrical feel while celebrating the creativity that has long defined Black beauty culture.

Hosted by television personality Segun Oduolowu, the ceremony balanced entertainment with recognition of the industry’s longstanding contributors.

Giving the Industry Its Flowers

The celebration also made room to honor the professionals who have spent years building the foundation of the beauty business.

Patric Bradley, Brittancia Stewart, Jamahl King and Michelina W. Barber were inducted into the Bronner Bros. Hall of Fame, recognizing their contributions to professional beauty and entrepreneurship.

Earlier in the day, the VIVATRESS Student Summit, presented by Vivacé by KISS, offered cosmetology students educational experiences, mentorship and an opportunity to showcase their skills through the Fantasy Braid Competition.

It was encouraging to see a celebration of established industry leaders paired with meaningful opportunities for those just beginning their careers.

Partners including Moroccanoil, ECO Style, ORS/Namasté Laboratories, Luc Belaire, McQueen and Bumbu also contributed to the weekend’s festivities. ORS/Namasté Laboratories marked its 30th anniversary during the awards program.

A Beautiful Way to Celebrate a Legacy

Created and executive produced by Kelly Keith, the Beauty Icon Awards has quickly established an identity that blends cultural appreciation with high-end production and industry recognition.

The festivities continued Sunday with the Beauty in Good Company Brunch, sponsored by Brand XO, where industry professionals, entrepreneurs and creatives gathered for networking and conversation.

As Bronner Bros. prepares to celebrate its 80th anniversary in 2027, the weekend offered a fitting reminder of the company’s influence on generations of beauty professionals.

What stood out most wasn’t simply the celebrity appearances or the impressive production. It was seeing so many generations of talent, ambition and accomplishment celebrated under one roof.

And if this year’s celebration is any indication, Bronner Bros. is giving Atlanta plenty to look forward to next year.
